So we've seen a lot of new weapons for Last Light as well as some old ones. My question to you is this: what would your preferred loadout and attachments be, and why? Let's assume that all weapons from M2033 are making a return. Also keep in mind that there are three universal slots.
I would choose the Kalash with silencer and iron sights. Secondly I'd have the duplet for those nasty close quarters situations, and finally I'd like to have the new side-loading bolt-action rifle, seen as the "Valve" in recent trailers, purely because the side-loading action is pretty fucking epic.

Hmm so I would like a Siaga 12 gauge shot gun, a VSV with a laser pointer with iron sights, and finally a AKs-74u.

The Saiga-12, the bolt-action rifle and the semi-automatic pistol have all caught my attention. Though I'll probably mess around a bit with different weapons spanning multiple playthroughs; it would be a shame to miss out on the various options by sticking with one approach, in my opinion. :)

I'll probably try anything that was made from scrap by the Metro dwellers. The pneumatic weapons are my best friends in 2033 and I'm very anxious to see what else they came up with in Last Light.

I hated pneumatic weapons in Metro 2033, almost as much as I hate lurkers. But my loadout would have to be Revolver, Bolt Action Rifle, and Modified Russian Rifle.

This ^ but i'll probably end up using my usual Metro Load out, revolver, AK74 and Uboyneg or Duplet.
Don't care about attachments like suppressors, throwing knives are the only way to go through a stealth play through for me.

Just seen this and thought WHY!?

I loved the pneumatic weapons of Metro - it really felt like they packed a punch.

The Tihar is probably the best weapon in the game IMO, it's silent, fully automatic, cheapest ammo and it's very powerful + it can have a scope :D

fully automatic

I actually went on to the game to prove to myself that the Tihar has automatic fire capability, and the result? I'm right.

So when you hold down the trigger it continues to fire? Doesn't do that for me.

Does for me, and it's got quite a high rate of fire too. It may be because i'm on xbox though. Takes just about 3 seconds ish to empty a whole tube of ball bearings.
Just realised you're on xbox too, dunno why I do then.

Let me start up my xbox, I never really use full-auto on any weapons so I could be wrong and you'd be the one doing the face-palming :3

I'm guessing what happened is you went on xbox, completely forgot about this and then played Metro for the rest of the night.

Wait, the Tihar has Full auto on the PC, always remember it was bloody useless though as your first couple of shots did damage, the rest just kinda...
"PFFF PFFF PFF Pff pff pf pf"
If you get my drift, but was usefull in tricky situations, meaning it wasnt totally useless if something jumped you

Basically. I went on to test the Tihar thing and hey, you were right. Then I played my most recent Fallout New Vegas game, finished Dead Money and went to bed.

Based on the way that I play, I will probably stay true to the native Metro 2033 weapon slot system. My first load-out will have shotgun-pistol, a silenced bastard, and the bolt action rifle.

I think I'd take whatever comes to me for the first play through, but if I had to choose a load out based on "right now" info id pick a VSV, Saiga 12k and an unaltered revolver (just to keep it badass at times)
P.s - wouldn't a silencer on any revolver (excluding the Nagant 1895) be useless at silencing? Because gas escapes through the gap in the cylinder and barrel on every shot creating a distinctive gun shot sound. Is this true? Because I think it makes sense.

That's completely true, the Nagant 1895 revolver is the only current revolver that could use a suppressor. I think my new load out be a VSV with a laser sight, RPK,and metro made silenced semi auto pistol.

A Metro Dweller playthrough would probably be fun. Use only weapons made in the Metro.

We need Nagant Revolvers! now that would be awesome poor mans weapon, cheap, Cheap ammo, takes a long bloody time to reload, stuff all power but silence-able! :D

Cool thread! I forgot about the three universal weapon slots!
I will probably use the Uboinik (Revolver-shotty), Bolt-Action Rifle (silencer + Scope), and the Semi-Auto (which I hope has a silencer).

would probably use whatever i could find, but I would probably stay true to the slot system in the current Metro, ie: buntline (long barrel revolver). VSV with laser sight and pneumatic weapon.

Yep, yep, yep. Not sure if you saw my post in this thread, but I'll be following the same methodology in the new Metro. It just seems appropriate to me.

I'm thinking one of the pistols, The Valve, and an RPK. But I'm sure I'll be switching stuff around as I go. Not quite sure about attachments yet, I don't know what attachments are confirmed for which guns :)

Only 2 guns since I will be playing Ranger Hardcore :)

I know what you mean, some (great) piece of junk cobbled together in the metro with attachments like that, I don't think I could ever bring myself to use it, it just wouldn't feel right.

Am I the only one who'd take a Helsing ?
I specially went to look for one (without a scope) and a small supply of arrows to get past the Librarians. IMHO it's the most effective weapon against them. Liked it so much I kept it for the rest of the trip ...
And the VSV and a long-barreled revolver with stock or silencer.
Komodo Saurian
05-11-2013, 06:35 AM
I'll just take three different bastards :V
If I get to pick any weapons they would be; M1911 or 93R, VSS, Crossbow :D
Attachments would be silencer on the 93R and red dot + laser sight on the crossbow.

Nope, but I would also consider the VSV with a laser sight (like in black station) with duplet, and silenced handgun with sight.
Pretty much my dream layout xD

Well you can only use two guns in ranger mode, so a kalash and shotgun. Or a kalash and that sniper from one of the earliest walk throughs.

i watched a documenary the other day with a section on the "Tunnel Rats" in Vietnam. While crawling through vietcong tunnels the standard 45 auto pistol was found to be far too loud when fired - often resulting in bursting the eardrums of the soldier. A new weapon was developed - the smith & wesson special pupose revolver.. a quiet compact snub-nosed pistol that fired .410 shotgun rounds which were found to be particulary effective in the close range confined spaces.

Ah, but if we're talking weapons from the game, silenced scoped VSV usually. Duplet for close in work. Currently replaying through M2033 with silenced bastard (finally found it!)
