Hey guys :)
BioShock: Infinite will be released on the 26th of February 2013. Who of you is excited? How did you liked the first two games set in the dystopian underwater city of Rapture? Discus it here! :pop2:
Here is a new trailer released a few hours ago. Enjoy!

It's one of three games I'm very much looking forward to (the others being Metro: Last Light & The Last Guardian). First Bioshock game was ace, the sequel (read: spin-off) was absolute cack. The Minerva's Den expansion on the other hand was spectacular.

Thank you very much, cerberus. The three games I am looking forward are Assassin's Creed III, BioShock: Infinite and Metro: Last Light.
BioShock 2 was absolute briliant, such as the first game. BioShock is just a franchise I fell in love with :)

Looking good. I always found this game interesting because I loved the first two, but I'm sure it won't be the same without Rapture... then again, I guess it's better that it's finally new and they're not milking the previous setting to death, but then why are they using the BioShock name? Still, there's a 50% chance that I'll get the game when it comes out.

That's a rather stupid question, Bamul. I will spare you the obvious marketing reasons but if Ken Levine (the original Bioshock creator) thinks the game's themes fit within the universe that he created then there's no reason not to use the Bioshock name. For instance, I'm sure he would've named it System Shock: Infinite if the themes would fit the System Shock universe...

Since we now have a Bioshock: Infinite topic, I thought I'd post the Heavy Hitters featurettes:
Part I: Motorized Patriot

Part II: Handyman

Part III: Boys of Silence (my favourite)

Part IV: Siren

The Boys of Silence are also my favourites. The creepy design is awesome. Irrational Games know how to make a game interesting. I hope the soundtrack will be as amazing as the soundtracks of BioShock 1 & 2.

The marketing reasons really are obvious indeed - I was wondering if there was anything else. Though I guess my question was quite stupid, as it wasn't specific enough.

Bamul
11-28-2012, 03:53 PM
Thestalker, multiplayer in RO2 and DayZ is something completely different to MP in BioShock. RO2 and DayZ are primarily multiplayer games and (for example) the singleplayer component of Red Orchestra 2 is only meant to serve as a tutorial to teach the player how to enjoy the thrills of realistic gameplay with other players. BioShock is a story-driven singleplayer game - multiplayer simply does not belong there, as it detracts from the experience. ;)

If I were to design the box art, I'd draw inspiration from a "Beauty & the Beast"-type of silhouette image. Kind of like this one here:
http://www.filmeducation.org/images/film_library/beauty_and_the_beast.jpg
Change the setting a bit, replace the beast with Songbird and put the Bioshock logo on it. Print this tasteful presentation on a steelbook and you've got yourself a gorgeous work of art. Pre-ordered!

"there will not be any additional DLC to come from Irrational after the game is launched."That seems to me like a fancy way of saying: "We won't make any DLC for it, but we (or 2K) will probably get another studio to do that". But you never know - we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't think Irrational will allow some other studio to tamper with their work.
Bamul
12-27-2012, 03:53 PM
Not really about what they want or will do. I'm pretty sure that 2K, as the publisher, will do whatever brings them profit and Irrational will have to agree like any other developer. After all, BioShock 2 was made by a different studio.
cerberus
12-27-2012, 04:00 PM

Morality and the illusion of choice (http://mashable.com/2013/02/27/bioshock-infinite-kevin-levine/). Great read, possible spoilers.
"Our story isn't trying to please everyone; in fact it tends to piss off a lot of people." A bona fide thought-provoking experience that sounds right up Cerberus' thought-provoking alley.

If you pre-order Infinite then you get the first Bioshock free. The first and second one are amazing and really creepy. This one seems more like some action shooter than what the original two were. I'm still going to keep my eye on it but it's not one of those games where I say "TAKE MY FUCKING MONEH!"

Is that a steam only deal 'cause I didn't see that deal mentioned for the 360 and I only play games on the 360. I bought BioShock Ultimate Rapture Edition which contains BioShock 1 & 2 plus DLC for both games. That should keep me busy 'till Infinite drops in price.

Bought the Ultimate Rapture Edition a few weeks ago as well - ps3 version, 360 is not available in Europe. Been killing time fast with B2's multiplayer, nearly halfway through rebirth now (rank 23). Say, do you have access to the multiplayer characters Zigo & Blanche? They're nowhere to be found on my copy...

I bought my copy from Amazon today yet to ship so I don't know. One of the reviewers on there notes the DLC contained with the package but makes no mention of those two multiplayer characters. Is is easy to find a match for BioShock 2?

Quite so, yes. Played the 360 version this weekend because Gold was free and I had no problem getting into several games. Keep in mind that it's either Survival of the Fittest, Team Deathmatch or Capture the Little Sister. Turf War, (Team)Adam grab or Kill 'em Kindly are not very popular.

Yea it's PC only. Steam gives you Bioshock 1, TF2 hats and if they get enough pre-orders you get x-com enemy unknown. If you get it from Greenmangaming.com you get Bioshock 1 and your choice of either Spec ops the line, darkness 2, mafia 2, and I think x-com enemy unknown or some other game.

Multiplayer doesn't work because there is nobody who still plays it. The campaign took me about 7-8 hours to beat, but that was on the hardest difficulty. The ending is great and you will remember it for a long time.

Anyone who feels the need to buy Spec Ops: The Line for its multiplayer component - which was slammed by the developers themselves (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-29-yager-spec-ops-multiplayer-was-bullsh-and-should-not-exist), and rightfully so - is severely missing the point of what this game is trying to accomplish and should stay far, far away from it or any other game that offers a similar thought-provoking experience.

Holy shit this game is beast. I really thought it was going to suck ass but it turned out to be amazing. Even on all max the graphics are a little...different. I find that even Borderlands 2 had better graphics since the blood just looks weird but what ever. The story telling is amazing. I love Booker and Elizabeth. I love how it's a linear shooter yet there is so much to explore! There are so many ways to fight. You could bring in a hook, grapple on to it and drop in with the gear that makes enemies around you fall and just blow them away with a shotgun. The game is just amazing. No wonder it got a 10/10 on pretty much every review site.

You can't necessarily say that Booker is Andrew/Jack, because he wouldn't, isn't and wasn't, but in a way he is. Jack is the same as Booker in some aspects, he exhibits the space of Booker in different universes but in some way still isn't Booker. Do you understand what I mean?
TheStalker
04-02-2013, 12:31 PM
That's true but at the same time it is heavily implied Jack is Booker from another universe, and Andrew is the comstock of that universe. "there's always a man, a light house, and a city" :)
